Story

Hello and welcome to my Charity Fundraising page.

I have challenged myself to run the famous Great North Run Half Marathon and would love for you to sponsor me!

This is the first time I am running a Half Marathon and I have been training hard to be able to run it successfully.

I only restarted running on New Years Eve 2023. Initially I struggled to run more than a minute but by the end of February I had completed the Couch to 5k and was able to run for 30minutes. Continuing my training up to 10k, I entered and completed the Birmingham 10k in May this Year with a time of 50:29.

Now I continue my training and have been pushing myself harder to be able to run a half marathon!

PLEASE SUPPORT ME

I have chosen The British Red Cross as my nominated charity as they offer support here in the UK and abroad in Gaza and Ukraine amongst other countries in need.

Most of their work is abroad.

Currently they are supporting those in Gaza and the West Bank.

Gaza crisis: Over 37,000 people have been killed in this catastrophic humanitarian emergency

In Gaza and the West Bank, people face a catastrophic humanitarian situation as they experience an alarming lack of food, cannot access enough safe water and can’t access the medical care they need.

The ongoing conflict and situation in Gaza is catastrophic. Famine is looming, clean water is scarce, and the healthcare system has all but collapsed. Most people have fled from their homes, but there is nowhere safe left to go.

We are witnessing unacceptable and relentless human suffering and the sheer scale of the response and recovery effort needed will require funding for many years to come.

Your donation will go to:

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS):

>reaching 1.8 million people with food, water, and other basic essentials

>supporting over 345,000 people with health services

>providing psychosocial support to 94,000 people

>reaching almost 22,000 people with emergency medical services

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has:

>opened a 60-bed field hospital in Rafah, with capacity to provide medical care for 200 people a day, including emergency surgical, obstetric, maternal, and paediatric care

>provided one cooked meal a day to 25,000 vulnerable people in Gaza, as well as ready-to-eat food parcels to 10,000 people and high nutritional food bars to almost 200,000 people

>provided essential items to more than 1 million internally displaced people in Gaza and helped more than 1 million people access clean water

Also in the UK they offer support for:

>Cost Of Living.

>Mobility.

>Refugees.

Every pound donated will make a huge difference to help those affected by crisis:

> £22 could provide a wheelchair for one week for an unemployed person who can't afford to hire one for themselves

> £51 could provide a tarpaulin shelter to three families who’ve been displaced from their home by the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.

> £100 could provide 12,000 chlorine tablets, ensuring people affected by the conflict in Ukraine have access to safe, clean water.

Any donation you can give would be much appreciated!
