Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I booked myself in for my first 50 mile Ultra quite a few months back and have been on and off with raising money for this event, but I have decided what the heck, even if it is a few pounds it will go a long way and will help motivate me even more!
I have not really got a target for raising money for Eden MIND, but I thought I might as well try and help fund this fantastic charity.
The event is the GB Ultras Pennine Barrier Challenge which takes on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks over a 50 mile course. Starts out on Saturday 3rd May at 6am and has a cut off of midnight. I hope to complete in 12-14 hours if all goes well. I wanted to do a 50 miler at the age of 50.
The majority of my running is based around mental health and it is the main reason I started running and where I am now with it. A long way from those huffing and puffing 5k’s. My mental health is main drive for motivation and to push myself, after suffering from depression in 2018/19, which nearly completely derailed my life in a fog of self destruction. I was lucky as I had the support from my wife and I opened up, others are not as lucky and need more help from charities like MIND. Even though I have been in a great place since April 2020 I do not take my good mental health for granted and need to be aware of the signs.
