Story
I lost my precious son Dan in a road traffic collision. At just 18 years old he was funny, loving and full of life, with a smile that could melt your heart, until he was taken abruptly from us.
You soon learn that some things in life are extremely precious to you, and the support that family, friends and colleagues give you is wonderful to receive. But a special kind of help is needed to get you through the dark times. That’s where Edward’s Trust offered us a lifeline, by giving us counselling and so much support and understanding that I truly feel without them I wouldn’t be functioning as I do today.
About Edwards Trust
Unless someone has experienced acute loss, it is difficult to express in words what it means. Commonly, people say "I cannot imagine my child dying", or "why would someone do that to my Daddy?".
For the families of Edward's Trust, they don't have to imagine it. Every morning they wake up to a terrible reality - a nightmare that is played over and over again.
Out of such experiences, Edward's Trust was born. Named after Edward Dent, just seven and a half years old when he died on 29 July 1998, our charity has been offering hope to bereaved parents, children and young people for 35 years.
Edward's Trust provides qualified counselling and holistic support for complex or prolonged grief. We do not set time limits and the service is completely free.
We rely on donations to keep our vital service going.
Thank you for supporting me as I jump to raise money for Edward's Trust!
