Team Salamander ( Kevin, Tristan and Dave) are running the Great North Run this September to raise vital funds for The Ella Dawson Foundation.
Kevin's 24 year old daughter, Ella, sadly died in 2021 following a 2 year battle with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Throughout her illness Ella wanted to show that ' all is not lost as a young person with cancer' and she believed passionately that emotional, physical and wellbeing support is vital to be able to withstand harsh treatment regimes and to live well despite a cancer diagnosis.
Sadly, wellbeing supported tailored to the unique needs of young people is sadly limited in the UK. Fear, anxiety, and the emotional and physical side effects of a cancer diagnosis can make it challenging for young people to fully comply with curative treatment protocols so Ella used her illness to create a wellbeing blue print to help other young people with cancer like herself.
The Ella Dawson Foundation is her legacy.
We are a rapidly growing charity providing psychological, physical, nutritional and wellbeing support to young adults with cancer and their families, helping and supporting them to live well through and beyond a cancer diagnosis.
Every donation makes a real difference to help young people live well with cancer.
