Story
During the covid pandemic my son Aidan developed type 1 diabetes and ended up in hospital for the best part of a week in a critical condition.
He had some excellent care but now has to closely monitor his glucose levels and is fully dependent on injecting insulin for the rest of his life.
Over the last several years technology has helped Diabetics with devices like continuous glucose monitors which means they don’t need to perform finger prick glucose checks every few hours. There is a lot of research still going on into Diabetes to improve the lifestyle of anyone affected and I’d like to help the cause by providing some fundraising.
I’ll be performing 2 big bike rides, the first, which is a warm up, is the Ford RideLondon-Essex which is a 100 mile ride round London into Essex and back on the 26th May.
The second and main event will be the coast to coast on 11th June which is just shy of a 150 mile ride with 6000 feet of climbing over the Pennines from Morecambe in Lancashire to Bridlington in Yorkshire, all in a day . As I’m not a slight chap by any stretch of the imagination, it’s not the distance that’s filling me with dread, it’s the 6000 feet of climbing 😳
Any amount of donation will be very much appreciated and make what will no doubt be a painful experience worth while.
Thanks for your support !
Kev.
Ps not sure if the title shouldn’t be changed to from ‘Kev’s 2 Big Rides’ to ‘Big Kev’s 2 Rides’ 😂
