Story
Our school is taking part in Santas on the Run Schools Challenge this December, raising money for Children's Hospice South West.
In March 2020, Truro College Day Nursery welcomed a little boy into their baby room, sadly he suddenly became very poorly just before he joined the pre-school room in September 2023 and has been in and out of hospital ever since. The nursery staff speak to him and his parents regularly and the children still talk about him often, they all are really hopeful that he will be able to return to nursery for short periods in the new year so that he is able to see all his friends again.
His family have received lots of amazing support from different professionals, however, one team in particular that this little boy has enjoyed spending time with and have been outstanding for himself and his family is 'Little Harbour Children’s Hospice'. His Mum has often commented that they would be lost without them and their support has been incredible for them all during this life changing time. Therefore, the nursery staff and children have decided to try and raise as much money as possible for Children’s Hospice South West to show our appreciation for their amazing work. With Christmas coming, they thought it would be a great opportunity to take part in a fundraiser event with a Christmas theme to make it a more magical experience for the children.
Some of the Early Years and T-level students at Truro College also want to show their support for such an amazing charity and will be taking part in the sponsored Santa Run too. The students, children and staff will all be dressed up in Christmas themed clothes and walking around the sports hall to see how much money they can raise. Alongside, a snow machine, Buddy the Elf, Christmas music and cookie's made by the catering team they are hoping to make it a magical and memorable experience for everyone who takes part.
The students have also been raidsing money by organising cake sales and raffles around the college.
Everyone would be extremely grateful for all donations and would like to thank people for their generosity and support in advance.
Please donate to help make the most of short and precious lives in the South West.
