Story

Team Cy-Run are back for another mighty challenge in 2024!.

Now that the London Marathon training runs are in the bag, it is time to focus on the big one. Welcome to The 6 Lochs Challenge fundraising page!

Team Cy-run are a group of runners and cyclists who have taken on a range of ultra running and cycling challenges over the years, raising a wee bit of money for various charities along the way.

This years day out promises to be one of the most beautiful yet. On May 11th, a small bunch of hardy runners will depart from Callander in the Trossachs and pass no less than 6 stunning lochs (Venachar, Achray, Katrine, Arklet, Chon & Ard) before finishing around 38 miles later in Aberfoyle. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/249439708

As always, the runners will be joined by a growing group of cyclists who have been assured that there are no hills between the Mhor Bread cafe in Callander and the Forth Inn pub in Aberfoyle. Only lochs & glens. (The potential sneaky pint stop in the well hidden Byre Inn at Brig o' Turk is never to be mentioned before May 11th by the way).

Macmillan Cancer is the wonderful charity we are fundraising for this year. Any donation you can give will be gratefully received and much appreciated.

On the start line for this years ultra run will be some old guys who should know better, some young uns who obviously don't and a dog who has no choice.....Frank Gilroy, Chris Hanlon, Andy Devine, Alan Kershaw, Neil Robinson, Kenny, Paddy & Jack Neison, Paul Mefford and Gordon Allison. And not forgetting Nico the four legged ultradog.

Team Cy-Runs Adventures & Achievements Over The Years:

2012: The 7th Day Adventurists: cycled to London over 6 days and ran the London marathon on the 7th.

2013: The Wee Duathlon: early morning cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh, off the bikes and ran the Edinburgh marathon.

2014: The World Record: fastest charity mascot IN THE WORLD at London Marathon. Frank Gilroy is Clark Kent. Harvey Heart is Superman.

The Big Hills Cycle: 430km cycle from Carcassonne in France to Barcelona in Spain, over the Pyrenees and down through Andorra.

2018: The 5 Ferries: The start of the numbers game. A 53 mile island hopping ultra run from Ardrossan to Wemyss Bay via Brodick, Lochranza, Tarbert, Tighnabruaich & Rothesay.

2020: The 3 Bridges: Days before covid lockdown, a 57 mile chilly winter ultra run from Erskine Bridge in the west, over the Kincardine Bridge and finishing at the Forth Road Bridge in the East.

Around the World in a Day: Kenny Neison joined Marc Beaumonts virtual team of 80 cyclists, each of whom cycled 240 miles on their turbo trainers in one day during lockdown.

2021: Post Lockdown 100. A first 100 mile cycle in a day for many of the Cathcart Pedallers, starting and finishing in Glasgow. 'Doon the watter' to Largs & Millport.

2022: The 3 Castles: 46 mile ultra run from Dumbarton Castle to Stirling Castle via Doune. Hill finish on the cobbles. Whose idea was that?

2023: The 2 Palaces: 42 mile ultra run from Linlithgow Palace to Scone Palace, with some bonus miles around Dunfermline for the lucky few.
