Story
This is Reagan’s 3rd year of fundraising and being apart of EOS’s move 5 campaign and this year he has decided to walk 5 miles in 5 days what ever the weather!
A bit or a backstory on Reagan’s history with eczema, Reagan has had eczema since he was 3 months old, before the age of 4 he had multiple hospital visits and admissions due to skin infections and abscesses which left him unable to walk for 5 days! In between then and now he has had treatment plan tweaks and allergy tests, Reagan has to cream at least 6 times a day (even at school). He uses special soap aswell as shampoos, creams, ointments, medicines and bandages all as part of a treatment plan to try to control and keep his eczema at bay, although he hasn’t ever been clear of it up to yet.
He has regular dermatology appointment at 2 hospitals, and also allergist as allergies contribute to eczema flare ups. You will notice he wears gloves on his hands to protect them as his skin flares up when it comes into contact with certain things, if this happens his skin becomes incredibly itchy which then leads to the pain that comes with it, his skin feels like it’s on fire, he often goes to bed covered in wet clothes and blankets to help ease the pain.
A few years ago we needed some advice and support from eczema outreach, which we was really great ful for, Reagan also loves joining in with zoom calls and get togethers
that eczema outreach organise so that children with eczema can meet other children that have it too.
Eczema is an often misunderstood condition! A child with severe eczema can spend hours daily treating their rough, inflamed skin, and still face unbearable itching, uncomfortable flare-ups, and even hospitalisations for infections. Sleepless nights and days unable to concentrate are all part of life for a family dealing with eczema. Some children even face bullying due to their skin.
EOS provides help and support. It is a place to turn to when it all becomes overwhelming. Please donate to my fundraiser and help a child affected by eczema.
Thank you for taking the time to read a snippet of Reagan’s story :)
