Why am I climbing Mt Kilimanjaro?
Chameleon Buddies are running an amazing event for women who have experienced birth trauma and stomas to trek to the top of Africa’s highest peak.
1 year ago today I was laying in a hospital bed recovering from an 8hr surgery to remove my bladder and form a urostomy. My journey to this point had been many years of living in constant pain, many surgeries and lots of dashed hopes for a resolution to my health problems. I was at the launch of Chameleon Buddies when they first started, and from that point on they supported me with everything. From the run up to my surgery I joined their support group and that was an amazing support, with people who had a wealth of experience and knowledge. After I had my surgery they put together a hamper of all the things they knew I would need to help me manage my new life with a stoma. The charity does amazing work supporting women in the uk and Kenya who have had birth trauma or stomas and I now have the opportunity to give back. I’m still working on getting my fitness back but I know that I have the strength and determination to face this challenge head on. I would love your support in helping me to raise vital fundraising for this phenomenal charity.
