I Am going on an adventure of a lifetime , trekking to Everest Base Camp , I am looking to raise funds in fighting an incurable disease , it’s a horrendous and life changing disease leaving people trapped in they’re own bodies eventually unable to speak ,walk, breath and swallow eventually making living impossible , and also affecting the carers and loved ones supporting them though it .

My decision to take on this trek has came from knowing a very special lady called Betty . I was introduced to Betty through my work , and she became a very close friend throughout my 12 years of knowing her , Betty was one of the longest living Scottish survivors with MND , her lovely family watched Betty struggle daily with this cruel disease , which she fought with determination , courage and sheer stubborness ! She never complained and her sense of humour was amazing , not a week passed I never left her without laughing at something or someone ! Betty passed Feb 2021 and I know 100% she would think I was mad but also desperate to hear about my adventures .

As my training starts very soon , I won’t be alone I’m joining friends Julie & Archie MacConnell , sister and brother raising money for their chosen charity Leukaemia care , nothing will prepare us properly for the affects of the altitude , the difficulty breathing and the miles will be tough , but this will be nothing compared to the daily battles which MND sufferers live through hourly .
