“We have time.”
That’s what I kept telling myself when my father was diagnosed with a serious illness. We still had time to talk, time to laugh, time to cherish the little things. But as the days passed, I realised that time isn’t just about counting moments. It’s about making them count.
On the 27th of April 2025, I’ll be running my first-ever full marathon. I'm running the London Marathon. Not just for myself, but for those who don’t have the luxury of time. I’m running for Hospice UK, because everyone deserves dignity, comfort and care in life’s final chapter.
Why this matters
I know firsthand how crucial hospice care is. It’s not just about medical support, it’s about ensuring that every person facing the end of their journey gets to spend their last days surrounded by love, free from pain, and with the dignity they deserve. But too many people miss out on this essential care simply because resources are stretched too thin.
Hospice UK supports over 200 hospices, caring for 300,000 people every year but they need our help.
The challenge: more than just a marathon
I’ve never run a full marathon before. 42.2 kilometers is an immense challenge. Training has been tough, early mornings, long distances, aching muscles. But every step reminds me why I’m doing this, because the struggle I feel on race day is nothing compared to what families facing serious illness go through every single day.
How you can help
I can run. You can give.
Every donation (big or small) makes a difference. It means more hospice beds, more support for families, more dignity for those who need it most.
I’m running for those who can’t.
I’m running for the families who need comfort.
I’m running for the caregivers who give their all.
