Story

On Sunday 3rd November, I will run for Team Cure Leukaemia in the New York Marathon!

Over 26.2 miles, I will run across the streets of New York on behalf of blood cancer patients across the world - with all funds raised helping the prospects of blood cancer patients, by funding more nurses and running more clinical trials through the Trials Acceleration Programme - so thank you for your generous donations!

The reason I'm running for Cure Leukaemia is because one of my best friends, Geoff Hill, died of Leukaemia on 16th September 2021. I've known Geoff for forty years and no one should have to go through what Geoff and his family had to go through.

Cure Leukaemia helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.

Cure Leukaemia fund research nurses at 15 hospitals across the UK. These roles form the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network giving patients, from a catchment area of 30m, access to potentially life-saving treatments through clinical trials, with plans to fund a paediatric network on the way.
