Story
I'm running the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday 15th October 2023 to raise funds and awareness for Cure Leukaemia.
As part of my training, I ran two legs of Cure Leukaemia's Tour of the TAP (Trials Acceleration Programme) on Saturday 16th September with other runners including James McLaughlin, the Chief Executive of Cure Leukaemia. That was 2 x 14k runs in one day, taking in the TAP centres at UCLH, Guy's and King's College Hospital.
The reason I'm running for Cure Leukaemia is because one of my best friends, Geoff Hill, died of Leukaemia on 16th September 2021. I've known Geoff for forty years and no one should have to go through what Geoff and his family had to go through.
Cure Leukaemia helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.
