Story
Me being me, I did not think about what this challenge entails and just said yes, I will do it! Now the reality is hitting home and what I have said yes too! Can I really do this?!
Unlike other challenges I have set myself with running, I cannot prepare myself for this extreme challenge and the thought of throwing up comes to mind, if I think about it to long! Then, I got thinking about the communities strengths and what I have witnessed Cornwall Mind providing to the county.
Every day, I meet individuals that have or are facing some of the biggest challenges they have ever experienced. I do not think any of us, have to look to far around us to see our loved ones, experiencing their own mental health challenges. My family, friends, neighbors, and I... It is around us if we look close, I am sure.
Despite some of these horrendously sad and challenging experiences I hear people facing, every single individual is showing up each day and doing what they can to find a way to navigate their mental health. They show strength, commitment and passion in finding ways to support themselves and others around them. This is what is empowering me to take on this challenge. The people that I meet, really show me that this challenge is possible.
Why Cornwall Mind?
Cornwall Mind provides services in our local community to support people, on their journey to recovery. I have had the opportunity to be part of seeing people have access to the services at Cornwall Mind and what it has meant to so many, while I have worked here. I feel very privileged to not only witness the community have access to the things they need to support their mental heath but commitment of Cornwall Mind to making sure, no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
If you can, please support me in raising funds and awareness for World Mental Health day and Cornwall Mind.
