Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most people reading this will know that in March 2022 my dad was admitted to hospital after collapsing at home and was quickly diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Within days he was fighting for his life- he was completely paralysed, unable to breathe and had to undergo two rounds of life saving treatment. This was the darkest time for us as a family, not knowing if he would survive, and the help and support we all received from Kent and Canterbury hospital was second to none.
After around 60 days in ICU, he was able to be moved to a Neuro rehab ward where he had to learn to walk again, as well as all of those day to day things that we take for granted. During this time, the hospital continued to provide amazing support to both my dad and our family.
Fast forward to 2024 and he is now volunteering at the hospital alongside his dog/favourite child Martha (who is now a fully fledged lead therapy dog) to give back to the hospital who saved his life. I’m running the London Landmark Half Marathon in 2025 to raise money for the East Kent Hospitals charity in recognition of the amazing work that they do and as my own personal thank you to them for giving me my dad back 🙏
Anyone who knows me will attest that I am no runner- safe to say that I am absolutely bricking it 😅 so please do sponsor me so that I have no choice but to go ahead and run 13.1 miles around London!
Thank you!
