Story
A year ago, my fit and healthy golf loving Dad was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma (GBM), an incurable brain cancer and given 12-18 months to live. He presented symptoms of not being able to completely pronounce certain words, we put it down to fatigue, but one day decided to go to A&E, where we found out his tumour was so big if we had left it untreated for just a few weeks more, he would have been paralysed.
The devastating news shattered our world, as we discovered the limited treatment options available, which havent changed or improved for over 2 decades.
In the UK, over £700m is spent on cancer research annually, but less than 3% is allocated to brain tumours. While this fundraising effort may not benefit my Dad in time, I hope it can make a difference for others.
Brain Cancer is the leading cause of death among children and adults. Research is a beacon of hope for significant advancements in managing and treating brain tumours and eventually finding a cure.
I am participating in the "3 Peaks in 3 Days" personal trek event on May 14, 2024, to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity. They are the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest funder of research into brain tumours globally. Their commitment to saving and improving lives is unwavering. They strive to find new treatments, provide unparalleled support, and drive urgent change because they understand that a cure cannot wait when someone you love is diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Please join me in supporting this vital cause by making a donation towards my target amount of £1,500. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those affected by brain tumours.
