Thank you for visit my page to support my undertaking of the London Marathon raising money for Shelter.
2024 was a year of many revelations after suffering from a serious breakdown. As a result, running and yoga became part of my recovery and has done wonders for my mental health since. 2024 was also the year I turned 40. As some of you may understand, birthdays ending in a zero give you reason to reflect and take stock. I wanted to do something remarkable, something that would challenge me and something that would be meaningful. My opportunity came when I saw there were places available to join the National Grid team to run the London Marathon. I felt honoured to have been awarded this opportunity to run as part of this team.
18 years ago I lost my mother to suicide. She was homeless at the time of her death and had been placed in a Women’s Hostel in Bristol. This was 11 days after her 46th birthday and four days before my 22nd birthday. The opportunity to run in memory of her and for a cause that would likely have saved her gives me so many reasons to achieve this mammoth task. To date, my longest run had been 10K yet I truly believe I will succeed in my mission
The housing crisis is a national emergency and right now, millions of people are trying to get by without a safe place to call home.
The London Marathon is a huge challenge but so is the fight against the housing emergency. A home means everything to me so I'm joining the fight for home by fundraising for Shelter.
The more people that know about Shelter the greater the impact will be. Please spread the word by sharing my page far and wide, with your friends, family, colleagues and as many people as you can reach.
Thank you in advance for any kind donations!
