Story
Since my husband's accident (in May 2022), my mental health has really suffered, as has his. I'm not very good at opening up about how the accident has effected me, but I am very good at putting on a smile/brave face and powering through which is not how it should be.
The word "Mental Health" has always been a bit of a taboo word and this is wrong. The charity "Mind" are trying to change this and support those who need it.
I feel really passionate about supporting Mind because of my own personal experiences with mental health issues and this is is why I want to help raise awareness of their work and help raise some well needed funds by running the London Marathon.
Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list but unfortunately due to my husband's accident, running had to take a back seat (as well as a lot of other things in my life) but I feel like I'm ready mentally (not quite physically but I'll get there) to take on this challenge. Getting back out running is going to really help me mentally, giving me something to focus on and something for "me". Official training starts after Christmas so for now I am just going to enjoy running. So here I go..........
When you're experiencing a mental health problem, supportive and reliable information can change your life. That's what we do. We empower people to understand their condition and the choices available to them through the following:
-Our Infoline, which offers callers confidential help for the price of a local call.
-Our Legal Line, which provides information on mental health related law to the public, service users, family members/carers, mental health professionals and mental health advocates.
-Our award-winning information, certified by the PIF Tick.
"Mind was such an invaluable source of information. I can't put into words how helpful they were for both of us..."
