Story
I had a call from my sister in April to say she was climbing Kilimanjaro for an amazing charity that she was currently supporting, and would I come with her.
Answering the call with one child hanging off my leg screaming, another painting mayonnaise with his hands all over the table, and the third singing "This Girl is on Fire" at the top her lungs, I quickly replied "Yep, I'm in".
I hadn't really considered that;
- I don't like camping (or bugs!)
-I prefer walking downhill than up
-Being cold is my least favourite thing
I probably should have backed out there and then!
However, instead I chose to read more about Hope4, chatting with Chris and the Hope4 team. Hearing the incredibly heart-wrenching, amazing work that they are doing, I felt committed to this unbelievably positive cause.
They are working tirelessly to safeguard vulnerable Ukranian and Moldovan children from trafficking and poverty, with thousands likely to die of hyperthermia this winter, and don't even own a coat. They supply, food, baby products, clothing and they literally never stop.
As a mum watching these videos, my eyes were flooding seeing the reality of what these poor women, fathers, grandmothers, children and babies are enduring. Although daunted, I feel utterly privileged to be part of an incredible team effort to help make progress in changing that in 2024.
So... on the 18th of January I'm boarding a plane to Tanzania, to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and I'm petrified to say the least!
I hope you can get behind this amazing team that I'll be climbing with, and I would be so grateful for any donation or support you feel you can give.
