Sunnyside is excited to be joining churches across the country again in hosting the Tearfund Big Quiz Night 2024. This year’s quiz will be in Church on Saturday 16th November 2024, 7.30pm for 7.45pm start, with Katie RS returning for a sixth year as Quizmaster. Since 2019, we've raised over £3,400 for Tearfund through the quizzes. Last year our quizzers raised incredible £827.10, and were part of 149 churches and 5489 other quizzers contributing to a Tearfund total of exceeding £50,000!!

Will The Breakfast Club (Lesley B, Bernie B, Jane L, Tim L) retain their top spot and who will take home the wooden spoon?!

There will be eight rounds and there are interesting round names again this year! – Geography – Capital Cities, General knowledge – Colours, History: Two truths and a lie, Natural landmarks, Sports, Music and Movies, Spotlight on 2023, Food and Drink. Some very useful hints there if you wanted to do some homework! Each round has six questions.

Please bring your own drinks and nibbles (including vessels/bowls to put them in) and take any recycling home. We will have hot drinks and cakes available for a cash donation or can donate extra online.

Please talk to your church family and friends about putting together teams of up to eight (sorry no more as it becomes unfair). Participants don’t have to be Sunnysiders. It would be fabulous to get a wide range of attendees – from our congregation, to hall users, to local businesses and The Rising Sun and The Boat regulars, to parish roads WhatsApp groups, and to neighbours and friends! In previous years we’ve had house groups, a gardening group, plus friends from other Berkhamsted Churches joining us. Solo or smaller numbers welcome and we can put folks together if needed. Samson will be there as ever (he makes me ensure he is available for it!) so do consider bringing similar age children too – there are normally some questions the younger generations can answer and help the older ones with! In previous years Tearfund have suggested a donation of £5 per person. As said last year, appreciating that cost of living has increased please consider your own individual circumstances as to what to donate, whether you feel you are able to give more, or indeed please do not let entry donation be a limiting factor as we’d love everyone to feel able to come. Please donate directly to this page. We will have another game of heads or tails so bring your pound coins. Sunnysiders and friends who aren’t able to join the quiz please do feel free to donate as well!

We’ll have had Community Cafe in Church earlier in the day so I shouldn’t need help setting up but as previous years hopefully many hands mean light work at the end.
