Story

Le Tour de Balls Quatre - BIG BIRTHDAY TOUR

300 miles in 3 days in aid of It's in the Bag's 10th Birthday Celebration. 3rd - 5th May 2025

Katie Gearing – The Newbie!

Not only am I new to Le Tour de Balls, I am new to cycling. I've barely cycled 50 miles, let alone 100x3 so there’s a lot of training to do! But I’m hoping I can convert my long-distance running habit into endurance cycling…!

Why Le Tour de Balls Quatre?

I have two teenage sons, so learning about Testicular Cancer and the importance of regular checking has become a familiar topic of conversation in the house! Being a trustee of IITB has been so rewarding on so many levels and raising awareness (and funds!) is key to everything the charity does.

What is your claim to fame?

2nd placed Ladies Team in the iconic 100km Trailwalker in Hong Kong a few years ago. So - I know I can go the distance on the running trails… but can I do it on a bike??

It’s in the Bag is run by a group of survivors with support from specialist NHS staff and provide hands-on support for men with testicular cancer (germ cell) in the South-West. We have three simple aims: Support: Being diagnosed with testicular cancer and going through treatment is a huge challenge – physically, mentally and emotionally. We provide a range of activities and initiatives to help men through this tough time. Awareness: We teach men the importance of checking their balls regularly and taking any issues straight to their GP. Spreading this knowledge promotes earlier diagnosis, which often means simpler, more effective treatment and better chances of a cure. Survival: With UK cure rates for testicular cancer running above 98%, we focus on survival helping guys tackle the emotional and practical impact of cancer, both during treatment and into their lives after.
