Story
Hi, I'm Katie, a critical care nurse with 18 years experience in this area. In the Intensive Care Unit, we provide life-saving treatment and support to the most critically ill patients. This environment often brings patients and their families some of the most challenging moments of their lives, and I've seen how even small moments of peace can significantly aid in recovery.
That's why I'm raising funds to help create an ICU Garden—a serene outdoor space for critically ill patients and their families. This garden will offer fresh air, daylight, and nature, even for those on life support. It will provide a place to escape the hospital's intensity and find a moment of calm. The project will be developed in stages, including both indoor and outdoor areas, so it can be used all year round, in any weather.
To support this cause, I'm taking on a personal challenge: running the TCS London Marathon in April 2025 - a long time dream of mine. This milestone will be even more meaningful as I raise money for this important project.
Your support will help bring this garden to life, offering a therapeutic space for patients, families, and staff. Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference.
Thank you for supporting me and this life-changing project. Funds raised will be directed under Mid and South Essex Hospitals Chairty to Broomfield ICU.
