Story

In May 2023, my mum presented to hospital with stroke like symptoms along with a fever and severe headaches. A few days later, she was in an induced coma diagnosed with Viral Encephalitis, and unfortunately my mum didn't make it out of ICU.

I am raising awareness and funds to assist with education and training on Encephalitis symptoms, that can lead to early detection and treatment which is paramount for better outcomes.

Worldwide, three people are diagnosed with encephalitis (brain inflammation) every minute. Caused by infection or autoimmune diseases, it can affect anyone, children and adults.

Encephalitis is an acutely serious condition leaving many who do survive with an acquired brain injury - potentially affecting them physically and/or affecting their memory, thinking and personality for the rest of their lives.

Encephalitis International's mission is rebuilding futures of those affected: saving lives, accelerating awareness and driving research.
