Story
Our son Aaron, was diagnosed back in February 2023 with a dysplastic aortic valve with aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation as well as mitral valve regurgitation - so it says on his hospital letter!
It came as such a shock to us as this was only discovered after he had suspected appendicitis and he was checked over and they heard something ‘off’ with his heart. Turns out he was born with it.
He was put on medication and remained asymptomatic until recently and is now on a list for open heart surgery to replace the aortic valve.
We’re told it is likely to be within the year.
Since CHSF support the hospital unit that Aaron will be going to, I wanted to do something that would raise money to help their work. They not only look after the children but do a lot of work helping and supporting their families.
Leeds General Infirmary is approximately 120km from where we live, there and back. So I plan to move that distance over the month of July. It may be walking, jogging, cycling, using a rowing machine or even swimming.
