Story
Taking part in a Skydive is way out of my comfort zone and nerve wracking to jump 15,000ft out of a plane, I do not have a good head for heights. Over the last few years I have pushed myself to do things that challenge me and help me to grow, facing fears and uncertainties, achieving things i never thought possible. This is going to be up there on the fear factor!
So many of us face challenges throughout our lives and looking after our mental health is so important. Like many others I have known friends, family, communities and myself who have experienced mental health challenges. It is so important to be able to reach out for support, to have your voice be heard and to receive kindness, compassion and patience from others. No one should be left behind and I have seen first hand the amazing work the voluntary sector does.
Cornwall Mind provides so many services across the county and I have seen the impact of the work. I have been blown away whilst working here the commitment of staff to those they support and how much people accessing Cornwall Mind have gotten in return. To witness individuals confidence and self believe grow, to have self compassion, challenging themselves and finding strength in the darkest times to keep putting one foot in front of the other has prompted me to give something back.
If you can support me in raising awareness of mental health and funds for Cornwall Mind I would deeply appreciate it.
