Story
It is with great sadness that we share the news that our loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend, Jane Eastham, passed away on 18th March 2025.
Jane was incredibly kind, loving, caring and selfless with a sharp sense of humour that shone brightly during periods of relief from her relentless battle with depression. Her deep love for her family, friends, running and her cat (Lucky) motivated her during her darkest hours.
Jane battled severe chronic treatment resistant depression for 40 years. She dedicated herself to volunteering at the University of Newcastle, raising awareness and contributing to research to improve the understanding of mood disorders. Jane co-authored many of the patient information leaflets on the Northern Centre for Mood Disorders (NCMD) website, contributed to numerous research studies and supported PhD students in both the Medical and Dental Schools throughout her lifetime.
It was Jane’s wish that donations in her memory are made to the NCMD Charity “Out of the Blues”.
Jane is now at peace and is no longer suffering. She will be loved and cherished forever and will be with us always.
Thank you for remembering Jane with us.
