Lancaster students are supporting Teenage Cancer Trust this year by sending a team of students to take on the Kilimanjaro Trek in 2025. Their fundraising efforts will help make sure no young person faces cancer alone.

Story

Hi everyone, my name is Kate and this year I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise £4,970 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The challenge is a 6-day trek up Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa at 5,895 meters above sea level which is also the tallest freestanding peak in the world. It will involve both strenuous hiking through the African wilderness as well as facing the challenge of high altitude climbing.

Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) is a charity which supports young people between ages 13 and 24 who are diagnosed with cancer. They provide specialist nurses, support teams and hospital units specifically for young people. As the charity does not receive any government or NHS funding, their amazing work wouldn’t be possible without donations and fundraisers such as this, so every penny we raise will go directly towards helping young people diagnosed with cancer.

I will also be doing various fundraising activities throughout the year to help raise this money before climbing Kilimanjaro next August.

I hope you can support me in this challenge and help raise funds for TCT. Thank you.
