Story

Homelessness. It’s a terrifying thought, but a harsh reality for far too many. The thought of not having somewhere to call home, no door or roof between yourself and the elements…no privacy, no safety, no comfort or security it’s a really scary concept and I know I am extremely fortunate that this is not something I have ever had to experience first hand.

For me camping is an ordeal, it’s way out of my comfort zone yet there are people who would love the security and shelter that a tent would provide. It really makes you consider your privilege. So for one night…i will join the big sleepout here in Swansea ….I know it’s nothing on the real thing it’s one little night in November whereby I will be outside but with others, I will be safe albeit chilled maybe damp, but it’s not a true representation of the real thing.

I hope that the money I can raise can offer a little safety and security, provide a touch of comfort and warmth where it is needed. Please, if you can donate I would be ever so grateful.

A bit from Dawsons:

A team of Dawsons, Dawsons Training Wales, and Fine & Country shall be sleeping rough in November with the Swansea City AFC Foundation, to raise awareness, funds and show support for those street homeless who sleep rough daily.

Homelessness and rough sleeping are still problems for people in Swansea. The causes are complicated, and the solutions are equally complex. This event will highlight the issues and put a focus on two charities working together to help. It will raise much needed funds and give wonderful volunteer fundraisers a tiny taste of sleeping out in the cold of Autumn. We know this doesn’t compare with the uncertainty and hardship of actual homelessness, but it does help focus the mind, and offers a chance to make a difference by raising funds.

As Thom from Matthews House said, "working together with friends and partners is always better for everyone". So let's work on this together and help 'bring hope to people in need'.

This year we will be sleeping within the bowl of the stadium overlooking the pitch with access to the concourse in case we have a repeat of last's year's weather.

Please support us if you can, share our page, help us raise much needed funds for those sleeping homeless on our streets.
