Story
I am undertaking a challenge this month which I am well suited for. Forget the China Bike Rides of the past, and the many 10km Race for Life completed, and all of those charity bike rides around London! This is something that is a bit more sedate (but may make me sound, to you non-knitters, as if I have hit old age!!)
This one involves knitting!!
Yes, who knew. However, I feel like the stars have aligned for this one.
You may know that my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about a year ago, and it has been very emotional, and a steep learning curve for all of us, especially my mum, and I would like to do something now that feels positive.
Dementia UK have organised a challenge to ‘Knit every day in November’. Well quite clearly that is not really a challenge for me - I would be doing that anyway! So I have upped the ante for myself, and challenged myself to start and complete as many items as I can within the month. I would like to complete 10 things, but that might be a bit of a stretch - we will see!
I might also sell off what I have knitted at the end of the month, for a donation to Dementia UK.
There is absolutely no pressure to donate, but if you would like to do so then I know that your money will be put to good use, supporting those with Alzheimer's, and their families.
