Story
I’m raising money in memory of my childhood friend, Nathalie, who tragically lost her life on the 14th of January 2022. Nathalie was a fighter from a young age, bravely battling leukaemia twice throughout her life at just 8 years old and again at 12, to then undergoing a life-saving bone marrow transplant at 13. Later on in life, she faced a diagnosis of PPFE (pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis).
Despite these challenges at such a young age, Nathalie’s spirit was nothing short of extraordinary and she was always up for anything. From playgroup to college, we shared so many wonderful memories, being in a girl band at school with our friends, singing and dancing in school productions, and local theatre groups, spending snowy days in Hove Park, or endlessly rewatching Tangled (she always called me pascal!). Nathalie had the most incredible voice, one that could move anyone to tears. I’ll always cherish the countless hours we spent singing together in our bedrooms, and on a stage with our friends.
To honour Nathalie’s memory and help others affected by PPFE, I’m running the half marathon on the 2nd of March 2025, raising funds for Breathing Matters. All donations will be going towards this amazing organisation that supports groundbreaking research led by Dr Joseph Jacob and his team at UCL to fight pulmonary fibrosis and lung infections.
Your support means so much, thank you to everyone who can help in any way they can, not just by donations, but by sending all the good vibes and sharing far and wide! Together, we can keep Nathalie’s memory alive and support life-changing research for those in need.
Thank you so so much for your kindness and generosity. Sending you all love and light.
