Event: Clyde & Co Stoke Mandeville Experience Day 2024, on 12 September 2024
Clyde & Co along with 14 teams of UK insurers, legal providers and experts dive into the world of wheelchair sport to raise awareness on the transformative power of sport in rehabilitation and vital funds for WheelPower.

Story

WheelPower has been providing opportunities for disabled people in sport for over 75 years. WheelPower began because of Sir Ludwig Guttmann, when he hosted the first Stoke Mandeville Games in 1948. 16 injured service men and women took part in an archery competition. Guttman's aim was to rehabilitate those affected by a spinal cord injury through movement, activity and sport. From this, the Paralympics was born.

Ludwig Guttmann's work lives on through WheelPower, with the continuation to host sports events for disabled people at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and across the UK. Disabled children and newly disabled adults can take part in our events, meeting coaches and like minded people, playing wheelchair sports and testing out specialist equipment.

By taking part and donating to WheelPower, you can be a part of the incredible transformative work helping disabled people lead active and healthy lives.

Team Allianz will be represented at the 2024 event by Sara Williams-Lucas, Vicki Merrix, Gill Clarke and Kate Kennedy from our Major Loss and Rehabilitation team. We are really looking forward to the event on Thursday 12th September and would greatly appreciate any contribution that you can make to fundraising for WheelPower. Thank you!
