Story
🏃🏻♀️Kate & John Hoole are running the London Marathon 2023 🏃🏻♂️
We both received a ballot place and we would like to raise money for ST PETER’S HOSPICE. In 2017 Kate lost a dear friend to cancer at the age of 40 and was able to witness first hand some of the amazing work that St Peter’s Hospice do.
❤️IN MEMORY OF KIM SULLIVAN ❤️
St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Their commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones.
All care is provided free of charge, but it costs around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money they rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and their shops.
- £15 could pay for a handheld fan which helps patients cope with breathlessness
-£33 could provide an hour of care for a patient in the comfort of their own home
- £123 could provide three nutritious meals a day for a patient staying on the Inpatient Unit for a whole week here
-£1,037.50 = 50 therapy sessions for bereaved families and children
-£1,071.00 = keeps our 24-hour advice line open for 3 days
- £1,331.00 = total average cost of caring for a patient in their home, where most choose to be
