Story

Hello everyone, I'm Kate Huizenga. Some of you might already be aware that I've set my sights on an incredible adventure: hiking up Kilimanjaro in August 2024. Kilimanjaro stands as the tallest mountain in Africa and holds the title of the world's highest free-standing mountain. This journey has been a long-held aspiration of mine, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be working towards making this dream a reality with the help of Choose A Challenge.

Choose A Challenge has raised over £20 million for various charitable causes and has sent more than 12,000 individuals on transformative experiences worldwide. Through a collaboration with Trinity College Dublin and the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF), we aim to raise crucial funds for this cause.

While the prospect of reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro is undoubtedly thrilling, what truly matters in this endeavor is the impact we can make through our fundraising efforts for MRF.

The Meningitis Research Foundation is tirelessly committed to raising awareness, funding essential research for enhanced prevention and treatment, and providing support to individuals and families grappling with the consequences of this disease.

I wholeheartedly believe that every contribution, no matter how modest, can accumulate into a significant force in the battle against meningitis. With your generous support, we can ensure that more people are educated about the risks, early symptoms, and prevention measures associated with this condition. Together, we can collectively work towards a future where fewer individuals have to bear the suffering and uncertainty that meningitis can bring.

Thank you for joining me in this important mission to support the Meningitis Research Foundation. Your generosity and commitment can help save lives and improve the well-being of countless individuals who may be vulnerable to this illness.

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
