Story
Myself and my friend Amber are running the Exeter Half Marathon on the 11th February 2024 for Tiny Tickers which has a very personal meaning for me.
💙 My son James was diagnosed with a serious heart condition at my 20 week pregnancy scan back in June 2021. Due to the severity James was born in a specialist Children's Hospital and had life saving heart surgery at 7 days old. This was one of the toughest times we have gone through as a family. If James's heart condition wasn't picked up at my pregnancy scan we wouldn't have known about it until he was born. Tiny Tickers have trained up over 2000 sonographers since 2016 to help spot heart conditions at pregnancy scans so parents can be prepared.
💙 James has recently just turned 2 and is thriving!! Any donations to Tiny Tickers would be very much appreciated.
A baby is born with a serious heart condition every two hours in the UK and despite congenital heart disease being one of the biggest killers of infants, only around half of congenital heart defects are picked up during routine prenatal scanning.
I'm supporting Tiny Tickers during Heart Week 2024 to help provide a safety net for the 1,000 babies each year that leave hospital with their heart defect undetected, improving a baby's chances of survival and long-term quality of life.
Please consider donating or sharing my fundraising page to help this brilliant charity and heart babies everywhere.
