Story
The Molineux Sleepout is back for 2023 and I am truly humbled to be taking part for a 4th year running.
All funds raised will be shared between the Wolverhampton Wanderers Foundation and The Good Shepherd, the charity situated opposite Molineux which provides food and a phenomenal range of support services for those in need from the local community.
The City of Wolverhampton has a population of 263,700 and is ranked the 11th most-income deprived local authority in England.
In the most recent data from Office for National Statistics, 21% of the population of Wolverhampton is income deprived and of the 158 different neighbourhoods in Wolverhampton, a staggering 84 were among the 20% most income-deprived in England.
Wolverhampton is ranked in the bottom 10% of local authority areas in England for health. The Good Shepherd have a 27% increase in the number of people accessing their food and crisis support service during the first six months of 2023, and a 60% increase in the number of casework sessions that have been delivered, compared to the same period last year.
All this shows how powerful, a night of trying to kip on the concrete of The Stan Cullis Stand really is.
