Story
The goal of the challenge is for the squad to accumulate the total distance required to travel from Tighnabruaich to each of the nine shinty grounds in the Premiership through any of the following: cycling, running, rowing, walking, and swimming and back to the playing fields in Tighnabruaich and highlighting the big distances travelled by the team across the country each season.
We are raising money for CHAS in the memory of Struan’s sister and Cairn’s niece who are valued members of our squad here at Kyles. We are looking for around £1 per mile- so aiming to raise £2358 for the CHAS.
A message from the family about Callie-Rose:
Callie-Rose was part of our family long before she ever arrived in the world. From the moment we heard her tiny heartbeat, she became part of our hopes, our dreams, and our future. When the doctors told us that she had a life-limiting condition, everything changed. We knew her life would be short, but nothing could ever lessen the love we felt for her.
When Callie-Rose was born, she was perfect. Quiet, delicate, and surrounded by love. We held her close and made sure she knew how deeply she was cherished
When we were told about Robin House Children’s Hospice, our hearts were heavy with fear. We didn’t know how we would survive what lay ahead.
The staff welcomed our baby with such gentleness it took our breath away. They handled Callie as if she were their own, with careful hands, soft voices, and endless patience. They learned her tiny movements, her quiet sounds, the way she settled when she was held just right. She wasn’t treated as a condition or a case but a precious little girl.
When we look back, we don’t only remember the pain. We remember the compassion, the dignity, and the care that surrounded our precious baby and our family. Robin House gave us memories when we feared there would only be loss. They gave our baby comfort. They gave us strength when we had none left.
Her brother Struan played a special part in her story. Even though he was young, he understood in his own gentle way that his baby sister was as a precious little girl.
Her uncle Cairn also held a special bond with her. From the moment he knew about her, he became her protector. He spoke her name with pride, held her with the greatest care, and made sure every moment with her counted. Cairn’s strength, humour, and steady presence helped hold the whole family together
Robin House – A Place That Held Callie-Rose With Love
For our family, Robin House Children’s Hospice was far more than a building. It became a place of safety, gentleness, and understanding during the most difficult chapter of our lives. When we carried Callie-Rose through those doors, scared and unsure, we were met with warmth that wrapped around us like a blanket.
The staff didn’t just see her condition — they saw our baby girl, delicate and precious. They held her with the softest hands, spoke to her with kindness, and treated her as though she was the most important little person in the world. They helped us make memories we were terrified we might never have: quiet cuddles, tiny handprints, peaceful moments where all that existed was love.
Robin House gave Callie-Rose dignity, comfort, and a gentle place to rest. And they gave us something priceless. Time to hold her without fear. Time to say everything we needed to say.
Their care stretched far beyond medicine. They made sure Struan felt included as her big brother, helping him understand and feel safe. They welcomed Uncle Cairn like family, giving him the space to love her in his own quiet, protective way. Every person who walked through those doors with us felt the softness and compassion that Robin House is known for.
To us, Robin House will always be remembered as the place that held our precious baby when we couldn’t hold the world together. A place where her short life shone gently, beautifully, and without pain. A place where we were supported, comforted, and understood.
For Callie-Rose, Robin House wasn’t just a hospice —
it was a home filled with love.
And for us, it will always hold a piece of her.
