Story
I started running in 2022 after seeing an advertisement in the local newspaper promising to teach me to run 3 miles in 10 weeks. 10 weeks with run leader Jules and I was well and truly bitten by the running bug . It has made a huge difference to my physical and mental health, neither of which were in great shape… Thank you Jules!
Since then I’ve continued running 5k intermittently at the local Parkrun on a Saturday morning but my friend and I have decided it’s time to aim for something bigger and have signed up for the Darlington 10k. Currently in training to increase our distance gradually, at this moment, 10k seems a very long way for my little legs (which are unfortunately prone to painful shin splints) and I’m really hoping for a cool August! 🥵 🏃♀️
Fundraising isn’t a requirement of the event but I’ve decided to do it anyway to support The Alzheimer’s Society, a charity who provide support to the many families affected by dementia, as well as investing in much needed research for life changing treatments. It’s an illness that my family have lived through and it’s heart-breaking. I hope that the ongoing research will find a solution one day.
I’d be really grateful for any donations, big or small, which will really encourage me over the coming weeks. I’ve linked my Strava feed so you can see my progress :)
Thank you,
Karen 💙
