Story
15 years ago I became involved in FAB after losing serving loved ones and feeling a little lost. We are now entering FAB15 where we reflect on supporting bereaved Military families through the loss of their serving loved ones.
FAB15 is a fundraising campaign aimed at raising awareness of FAB and much needed funds so we can continue to support bereaved Military families with activity breaks.
I am aiming to complete 15 challenges for FAB and will be started with Mt. Kenya on Saturday 20 July 2024.
In February 2009, I attempted Mt. Kenya with my friend and colleague Sgt Robert Loughran-Dickson (LD) but was unable to complete due to altitude sickness, he said we would complete it together in the future. Sadly, he was KIA in Afghanistan and so we were unable to complete this together.
Fortunately, I find myself back in Kenya, as we start FAB15 with an opportunity to complete this in his memory and for all the FAB families who have lost a serving loved one.
More challenges will follow, which are not all aimed at being physical, but for all FABsters being allowed the opportunity to participate.
Lets make FAB15 one to remember, as we reflect and remember our loved ones now and always.
