The Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity marked its 35th anniversary with a spectacular fundraising event. Based upon the popular BBC competition, Strictly Come Dancing, ‘Strictly Florence’ brought together individuals from the local community, to dance, for one night only.

My fellow amateur contestants and our patiently, professional dancers, trained to tear up the dance floor on Sunday 2 June at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.

We performed two dances. The first, a Cha Cha Latin routine with all the contestants, to Telephone by Lady Gaga which was taught by professional choreographer, David Anderson. The second dance was our couple’s choice. Adam very bravely let me choose everything and so we had a Bond theme, to a View To A Kill by Duran Duran and performed a Paso-inspired show dance. As for the costumes, I made sure we had more crystals than Swarovski! We were judged by a panel of celebrities and a live audience vote. The evening was hosted by the always fabulous, La Voix. To whom, I cannot thank enough for putting me forward to take part in this wonderful event.

My lovely mum has been part of the volunteering team at the FNHC fundraising office for the last 25 years. I have extended this fundraising page to continue supporting family friends who are in need of the hospice’s care.
