Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Lucas, I am 12 years old and have a passion for singing. I think my talent for singing comes from my grandpa Barrie who is is 86 years old now and used to sing in a Choir. He now sadly lives with Dementia and Alzheimer's and remembers little about his life and family. He is a resident at a care home in Rotherham and I often visit the home and sing to him and when he hears my voice it is like a light has come back to life in him and he sometimes even joins in and sings with me!
I performed a concert at Christmas for the residents at the care home which was covered by the Rotherham Advertiser as a result of this article I met Kathy Markwick and became involved with Music Makes Memories Friendship lunches. Please read article below.
Kathy invited me and my grandpa to one of her Friendship lunches, but sadly my grandpa was unable to attend, so she kindly brought her 'Superjam on the Road' to the care home and organised a fabulous afternoon with professional singer Oliver Harris entertaining all the residents and I even got the opportunity to sing too!
This event was a huge success and we have now hosted a second afternoon concert at the care home, following which I was invited along to an Afternoon Tea with Oliver Harris in Barnsley recently to celebrate the King"s Coronation.
I have now been invited to sing with Oliver Harris again at a Music Makes Memories Friendship lunch on 17th May at the Toby Carvery in Rotherham.
So, as a child performer I would love to raise money for a children's charity and have chosen Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice as this is local to me. I am currently fundraising with raffles and competitions in school and cake sales and will present the money raised to Ruth Wallbank Regional Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood at this event on 17th May. I would love to boost my fundraising through this Just Giving page so please help me!
Thank you very much.
Love Lucas.
