Story
Hi, thank you for taking the time to read this. We’ve both done fundraising and walks/cycle events before but nothing on this scale! The Sahara trek is going to be a personal challenge for us both before we even start.
We are both doing this to try and get a bit fitter so we can fully enjoy the experience. Once we land in Marrakech, we will then travel to the nearest town to the desert which is Ouarzazate (this will take 9 hours by road to travel to.)
We then begin our climb into the desert to get to camp for the night, a mixture of dried-up river beds, sand dunes and vast sun-baked plains.
We then walk and camp for 2 complete days and nights in the Sahara desert. The temperatures can range from 1 degrees during the night to 40 degrees during the day so hats and sun cream are a must!
Once we’ve finished our trek we will then walk back to the village and then have another 9 hours commute back to Marrakech. Our final day will be spent recovering and hopefully site seeing in Marrakech.
Please help us to raise our target, every penny helps.
Karen and Jim xx
The events of recent years have left over a third of young people feeling that the odds are stacked against them. We think young people deserve a better future, and so we have teamed up with Barnardo's to bring communities together to support young people.
Co-op colleagues are walking, running, cycling and climbing to raise £5m over the next two and a half years to support 750,000 young people to access basic needs like food, manage their mental wellbeing and opportunities for their future.
Help Co-op transform the lives of the UK's most vulnerable young people, together we can help thousands of families to build a better future.
Your donation will make a real difference to young peoples lives. Thank you.
