Karen's Story
During the coronavirus pandemic, my wife, Karen, unexpectedly passed away from a grade 4 glioblastoma multiform brain tumour which is an aggressive brain tumour, in which there is currently no cure.
Within 3 months of her diagnosis, Karen passed at the age of 47. Understandably, the impact upon my family has been devastating. Karen is greatly missed and is remembered for her kindness, care and compassion towards others.
Fundraising
In her memory and to raise the awareness of this unforgiving cancer, I will be undertaking Alfred Wainwrights 192 mile walk from Coast to Coast within 10 days averaging 18 miles a day.
The walk incorporates the mountains of the Lake District, the Pennine uplands, Swaledale, the Cleveland Hills, Eskdale and the North Yorkshire Moors. Whatever the weather!
I set off from St Bees in Cumbria on the 10th April and end the walk on the 20th April at Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorkshire. For much of the walk, I will be alone but I welcome anyone who wishes to join me along the way.
I am hoping to raise as much funds as I can in aid of charity research to find a cure and bring hope to others.
More information regarding grade 4 glioblastoma multiform is available via The Brain Tumour Charity website, where they also offer an abundance of support, advice and guidance.
However small the donation, you can help make a big difference.
Your support is greatly appreciated, thank you.
