Story

JULY 2024

Late last year, and after a memorable visit to the Easthill Home for Deaf People, we agreed that we wanted to give the Home’s residents, visitors and staff an outside space that everyone could use and enjoy.

Easthill is a residential care home for deaf people on the Isle of Wight - and it is a very special place that cares for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

We set ourselves the ambition of transforming the garden, making it accessible, vibrant and safe.

With your wonderful generosity we were able to smash our original target of £1000, raising over £6000 with additional donations of plants, paint and equipment. And thanks to our incredible team of volunteers, we were able to hold a garden makeover day on 8th June, that surpassed all of our hopes and expectations.

…With over forty people giving up their time and covering their own expenses to work on Easthill’s garden, we achieved more than we thought was ever possible - - and because of the amazing help, donations and support from local businesses, we didn’t spend much of the £6000 raised on things like paint and plants.

Because so much was achieved on that day in June, we’ve decided to extend our ambitions even further – and this where we hope you can help!

If we were to raise £9000, we would be able to buy new furniture and build a new garden path - things will enable every resident to get out and explore the garden safely.

We’ll be holding another volunteer’s weekend, on October 12th and 13th – and are once again hoping for a good turnout with lots of people power!

We appreciate that not everyone will be able to join us on the day but would still like to support Easthill, by donating money instead.

And so, our fund remains open! This page has the sole intention of raising funds to purchase additional plants, equipment and furniture; basically anything that will help us spruce up the Easthill garden.

Donations of any amount will be appreciated and welcomed - and every penny raised on this page will be used solely for the purpose of the garden project.
