Story
Hello! I thought I’d set up this page to help support my fundraising ahead of the London Marathon 2024 (I still can’t believe it!)
My name is Kane, I’m 30 and in no way shape or form do I consider myself a runner. In a former life I played rugby, currently dabble in CrossFit but for anyone that knows me will understand I’ve never liked running and maybe never will! I started off my training at 108kg which obviously doesn’t help matters.
So why am I doing this? I am fundraising for Mind to positively contribute towards better mental health and well-being for all. Charities and organisations such as Mind are a crucial part of the conversation and do a wonderful job in supporting people in their time of need.
Most of my teens and adult life my own mental health has been a bit of a rollercoaster. A short course of anti-depressants in my early 20’s, CBT counselling and trying to put into practice Stoic philosophy has been a huge part of my journey over the last 10 years. None more so than recently completing 200 hours as a Shout crisis volunteer.
I hope by completing the biggest physical and mental challenge of my life, I can play a small part in making a positive contribution to the positive mental health and well-being of others.
That’s me in a nutshell folks! If you got this far thanks for reading, and thank you for any donations you’re able to give…it’s massively appreciated!
Kane
