My journey to recovery was not an easy one. To get where I am today, it took me years of struggling with addiction, losing my children, and hitting rock bottom.

Before Nexus Recovery Center, I was homeless, alone, and lost. I burned all bridges with my family and friends. My mother had custody of my two oldest children. I was using heroin and didn't see a way out.

In 2019, I became pregnant with my third son. The doctor told me there was a high probability that he would have Down syndrome. I was devastated, believing that my drug use was the cause of this.

At this time, I found my way to Nexus. This was my second time at Nexus Recovery Center and they welcomed me with open arms. They didn't judge me or look down on me. They saw me as a person, not as a failure or an addict.

I owe my second chance at life to Nexus.

Nexus helped me get clean and sober. They provided me with a safe and supportive environment where I could heal and grow. They gave me the tools I needed to overcome my addiction and rebuild my life. I met a recovery coach who showed me that there are other pathways to recovery besides the traditional 12-step programs. I found mine in spirituality and church, becoming a part of the worship team and finding a community of people who supported and believed in me.

My son is now a healthy, perfect four-year-old. I am now married and have a stepdaughter. I have a relationship with my two older sons, my mothers, my father, and my grandmother is my best friend. I am also a recovery coach at Nexus, helping other women who are struggling with addiction.
