Story
I loved the challenge of the 24 Hour Relay Swim so much last year, I'm back for a second go, spending even longer in the water this year.
As part of a team from from Reading Bluetits, I'll be swimming at least six hours during the day, maybe more. Some of these swims will be at night, swimming in the dark.
I'll just be wearing a swimming costume (no wetsuit or other neoprene) - but maybe some novelty headwear or fancy dress to make things more interesting (requests considered).
Swimming has brought a huge amount of joy to me, so I'm passionate about supporting Level Water to make swimming a reality for children with disabilities.
What I'm raising money for
The first splash. The holding your breath. The echoes of laughter. The wet hair. The lifted spirits. The joy of gliding through water. The smile that lasts all day.
Swimming is like nothing else. The skills you develop, the confidence you build and the joys you feel are all universal. Yet access to swimming in the UK is not.
At Level Water, we use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities.
Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.
We are all keen open water swimmers who have found friends, fun and joy through being in the water. We want to raise money so more people can have that fun and freedom. We are swimming in three teams, doing between 3 and 8 hours in the water each during the 24 hours, to raise money for this great cause.
