Story
Myself and a group of fabulous ladies will be taking on the #Milesformums&babieschallenge' on the 13th May, to the top of the cavehill.
In 2019, five days after I gave birth to my daugher I became very unwell- soon to be diagnosed with Postpartum Psychosis.
This is a severe postnatal mental illness, but treatable!
As a family, we are extremely grateful for the care we received- as we are well aware not all families have been so lucky.
BUT- NO mother, dealing with this should be separated from their baby!!
Northern Ireland remains the only region in the UK not to have a MBU. So, because of this, I spent 12 days on an adult psychiatric ward- separated from my baby.
As we take on the journey to the top, where you get to see how beautiful our country is (weather permitting)- we will also reflect on how we do not yet have this specialist care, mums like me have needed! And charities like APP have been campaigning for - for over a decade!
