Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Acton Homeless Concern was started in 1989 as a practical response to the needs and problems of a large community of homeless people, sleeping rough on local streets. Over 35 years on, it is needed more than ever. Clients now include both those suffering from homelessness and families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet and feed and clothe themselves.

Acton Homeless Concern has two centres that provide practical help for those in need. Emmaus House provides hot lunches and is where clients can shower, pick up clothes and household items. There's a range of professional and medical services on offer, and a dedicated women & children's group once a week.

The Damien Centre is open during mornings and afternoons and clients can drop in for breakfast, a light meal in the afternoon or just for a chat and a hot drink. For those sleeping in hostels, or experiencing day homelessness, it's a safe daytime indoor space to read the paper, charge mobiles and use the Wi-Fi.

The services that Acton Homeless Concern provides include hot lunches, breakfasts and an evening tea. Mens, womens and childrens clothing items are distributed, and there are showers, haircuts and wellbeing services available. The charity organises health services like dental appointments, vaccinations, x-rays and screening. And it offers advice and advocacy on Housing, Mental Health issues, Benefits and Poverty.
