Story
"Till today, half a billion of the worlds illiterate adults are women. This trend has not changed in 20 years."
I am Jun, a Chinese migrant woman and I am grateful for the opportunities for being an Australian. One of these life changing moments for me is the opportunity to study as a mature student. In 2024 I will finish a bachelor’s degree in public health and health promotion at Deakin University. I am proud I will be the first person and woman in my extended family to achieve this level of education for my generation. My own second education has allowed me to clear the dark clouds hanging over my head since I was a young girl. Education has liberated me and empowered me to discover new purpose and make contributions to the community and be a positive influence to some young people's lives.
Women who have missed out on an education due to humanitarian crisis, poverty, early marriage and discriminatory norms, face immense barriers accessing training and job opportunities and participating in the digital world.
UN Women's Second Chance Education Program works to reach women who have missed out on an education due to cultural barriers, gender-based violence, conflict and early marriage and childhood pregnancy. The program provides face to face, online and blended adult learning and skills training for women who need it most to ensure we leave no one behind.
Now, I would like to ask for your generous support and contribution as together we can offer this precious gift to a woman, mother, sister, daughter, or even granddaughter to fulfil her dreams to study. With the funds we can create opportunities to change the life trajectory of a person's life, so she will be empowered to participate in the workforce and live a fulfilled life. Why wait, click on the link below and donate any amount you wish, 3, five, 10, or 20 dollars NOW. I sincerely thanking you!
