Celebrate the memory of a loved one this October as you walk 5K or 10k beneath the stars while raising vital funds to help ensure no one faces death or grief alone.

Story

Sue Ryder Starlight Hike is a series of 5k or 10k walks taking place in various locations around the country this October. They provide an opportunity to get together with family and friends under the stars to remember and celebrate the life of someone special and help ensure no one faces death or grief alone.

£20 could pay for a patient’s meals for the day in one of our hospices. We always do our best to cater for someone’s individual preferences and dietary requirements.

£25 could fund an hour of expert care, so our Sue Ryder doctors and nurses can help manage patients’ pain and symptoms.

£40 could provide our personalised text support service Sue Ryder Grief Coach to someone who is grieving for a year, as well as gentle coaching for friends and family who want to support them.

I am doing the Starlight Hike in memory of my mother in law Elizabeth who spent the last 6 days of her life in Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice Peterborough. She sadly passed away on 27th June 2018. The staff there were absolutely amazing. They looked after mum in law so very well and ensured that she was as comfortable as possible and they looked after us all as family too even after mum in law passed with their bereavement support.

I am walking with Diane and Samantha Holroyd who are walking in memory of Nigel Holroyd (Diane’s husband and Samantha’s dad) who also spent his last days being cared for by Thorpe Hall staff.

If you are able to help by donating to help me raise funds for such a worthwhile cause it would be greatly appreciated.

None of us know if we or one of our family or friends might need their care one day!
